PARKING LOT ROCK™!!!!!!!

Oh Man! Is it that time already?! The clouds are breaking and the sun is shining down on our beautiful city of roses. The banks of Lake Centaur have dried up for the summer drought and we here at Centaur turn our thoughts to THE GREAT 4TH OF JULY CHARLESTON CONTEST!!!

OK. I’m the only one who really gets worked up about that. Everyone else is running themselves ragged gearing up for the one… the only…

That’s right folks! This is the new improved Parking Lot Rock™. You can tell it’s new and improved by the v5.0 and the trademark™ symbol. You know what’s funny about this, folks? Me and the big man didn’t even want to rock out in the parking lot this summer! We were just gonna hang out in front of the shop in lawn chairs drinkin’ beer but nooooo…. the de facto crew that books and manages these shows along with their associated cronies demanded that the madness continue. So here it is without further ado. The schedule by which your entire summer will live and die. The official (generally official – somewhat tentative) lineup for the fifth annual Centaur Guitar Summertime Rock & Roll Jamboree!!

Wow. Look at that. There it is, your whole summer planned out for you.

Here’s some more news on the new and improved front. This summer’s concerts will be non-smoking events! We’ve decided that this being a kid and family friendly establishment and all we’d go ahead and clear the air for all involved. For all of you non-smokers out there, you’re welcome. For all of you trying to quit folks out there, you’re welcome. For you agreeable smokers out there who see the sense in such things, thanks. And for you non-agreeable smokers out there who are already complaining, open your own place and have a bunch of free shows where all your friends bands can play and the whole neighborhood can come have a good time. Yeah. So there. And thank you in advance for your understanding.

And hey, check this out. Just to kick off the festivities we’re selling the last of the posters from last years shows!! Now innit that capitalism at it’s finest?! Now you can sit back and remember the good times we had last summer with these hand printed limited edition letterpress posters signed and numbered by us Kelly & J!

We’re looking forward to seeing you all here this summer! We’d like to thank everyone involved for helping get this party started – especially Ms. Jody for booking and arranging this whole affair. Thanks too to the very kind City of Portland Noise Control Officer, Mr. Paul Van Orden for once again helping us get a noise variance for these events – really, one of the better folks we have working for us down at city hall – google him, he kicks ass! Thanks Chris, Peg, Mike, Telly, Linda, Mark, Carl, Pete, Rich, Rebecca and everyone else who shows up to make it happen. LLLLLLLeeeeeeeeeeeeettttttttttttt’ssssssssssss get ready to ROCK!

And for those bands who weren’t able to secure slots on this year’s schedule, I do apologize. Please know that we mean no offense. Take a deep breath, dry your tears, and buck up and throw your name into the hat for next year. Contact jody (-at-) centaurguitar dot com or get in touch through Centaur Guitar Booking on myspace.

I haven’t been to one of these before, but I’ve been told a few times that I should really just get up and go. My friend is going to be in Portland around the August the 28th weekend, so we might head over there together. You should thank your loyal fans for pushing me to check out the site by the way.
